shocking moment in my life

I remember the day when I learned that my dad had diabetes. I never truly understood what it meant but I knew it was something bad. I was 12 years old. He worked his way up to get a good job as a chef and he was proud of it. We always have fun. My father provides us with everything. His dreams for us were always big and ambitious. Often he talks about how he wanted to give us a better life; to send all of us to school and college to finish a degree. That is why he works so hard to make ends meet.

A large family of 5 children like us certainly needs a family man who not only cares but works hard as well. I can see my father working day and night not minding the stress and pressure just to support and feed his large family. He has always been an energetic man, with so much compassion for his work and his family. But that was before diabetes set in.

Not a word does he speak after that doesn't bring tears to his eyes, when he talks about his life. We would gather around him and cheer him up. Everyone in the family cared for him. We would take turns in preparing his food and attending to his needs. My mom carried the greatest burden of emotional pain because every day she saw the man whom she dearly loved, in agony because of a disease that has taken not only his limbs but his pride as well. My father died at the age of 45. His example of courage and love has been our guide in following our own paths in life. Diabetes had taken so much from him. Years where he could have done so much if only he hadn't acquired the disease.

Now, everyone in the family is making a very conscious effort to stay away from this dreadful disease. Diabetes with not take any one of us again. The day my dad went away is the most shocking moment in my life. But I believe everything happens for a reason. God knows what best for us. He loves dad so much he took him first so that he not suffering that much from his disease. I have to learn to let go. To move on, to live my life.

It has been 12 years.
I miss dad so much it hurts :(

5 things I cannot live without.

Everyone surely has something that they cannot live without in their life. Today I'm going to share about what things in my life that give me impact on living. To keep on living the healthy lifestyles we need to have something that can motivate us to live a good life. Because life is too short to be frown and there are always many good things about life that we can discover. Thus, this entry is going to reveal what are the most important things in my life.

1. FAMILY
everyone has their own family. So do I. As a first child I carry tonnes of responsibilities to help my mother to take care of my siblings. My mother is the backbone of our family. I admire her strength and dedication to my family. She works hard just to make sure that my siblings and I get a good education. I am the eldest in my family so I will be the good example to my sisters and brother. Without my family, especially my mother I couldn't imagine how our life would be. Family mean a world to me, I love them very much.

2. FRIENDS.
What is the meaning of a friend? A person one who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause or movement. Living in University teaches us to appreciate the true meaning of friendship. Especially in my University. We work, we study and we do almost everything in a group. For me, friend also holds a similarity concept with family. Ohana in mexican means family. I live with my friends in University as a society thus it means friends as a family. And family means nobody left behind. This make things clearly why I think friend is one of the things that I cannot live without.

3. HAND-PHONE.
We live in the 21st century. I couldn't imagine how to communicate with people around the world without the help of technology. Thanks to the invention of hand-phone that made people easy to communicate from one place to another. Imagine that we still using those old-fashioned communication such as smoke signals, drums, carrier pigeon and others. I think it may took sometimes for the message to be delivered, maybe a week or a month period of time. My hand-phone that keeps me in contact with all my family members and my friends. Even-thou we're miles apart but we still can in contact with each other & that the strong reason why I can't live without my hand-phone.

4. MUSICS.
Without musics life could be meaningless and dull. I like to hear to any kind of musics that have a good quality and the songs that has lyrics that mean so much to me. I love to hear to those that hold a memory or mean something to me. The one that can motivate me and something which is light and easy to listen. Sometimes in real life we cannot describe what we feel or what are we want to do. By singing it has its own melody and words that can describe all those feelings. The lyrics (words) of songs are typically of a poetic. Musics also can change our mood and give an impact to our lives.

5. BLOG
My blog. Yes, I love writing so much. Since I have blogged, I have become a blog addict. I love this amazing community that is doing it all their own way. I like to read other's blog. Sometimes they give us something to think about and the arts of writing is very beautiful. I appreciate this online journal that gives people around the world to write almost about anything and share it with people all over the world. But be careful about what are we going to write. We have to respect others and the ethic of writing is always to write a positive things. Because somehow a pebble in the water makes a ripple effect and thus every action in this world will bear a consequence.

my all time favorite super hero

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia;
"A superhero is a type of character possessing "extraordinary or superhuman powers" and dedicated to protecting the public. By most definitions, characters do not strictly require actual superhuman powers to be deemed superheroes. Superhero powers vary widely; superhuman strength, the ability to fly, enhanced senses, and the projection of energy bolts are all common. While others may have special weapons or technology."

Everyone knows who is Batman, he is, a normal man, who uses his love of science, strength, and problem solving to make him a very special kind of crime-fighting super hero. Bruce Wayne was a young boy when his parents were killed during a mugging. As Bruce grew up, he maintained a vow to bring his parents' killer to justice and so he trained hard to get his body in perfect physical condition by studying martial arts and gymnastics. Batman studied and excelled in areas of science, criminology and psychology. Batman is a top-notch escape artist but usually finds himself successful against the evil villains not by beating them up physically, but by out witting him.

Batman is my favorite superhero of all time. I adore batman very much because he is one of the intelligent superhero. Unlike most ultra-powerful self-appointed defenders of humanity, Batman spends a lot of time on the computer. In fact one of his most striking abilities knows just how to research and outsmart his adversaries. I’d like to think that the cognitive skills Batman uses to navigate his military grade supercomputer. He has no super powers, no godlike agility, no bionic durability. When Batman rushes off into battle, there’s only his thinly armored suit and quick wit to protect him from the night’s heinous evildoers. He is fabulously wealthy and has brilliant detective smarts.

He always stick to a no-kill policy. Why I'm saying this is because Batman has a no-kill policy and would rather hang up his cape than violate his sacred personal rule. No matter how many times the Joker gets free, Batman will take responsibility to stop his devious plans, round him up, and get him the good psychiatric care he needs. This is part of what makes Batman not just a good hero but the greatest hero. He may not the strongest, but he’s the firmest. While Superman may have more body mass, he can never grasp the sheer complexity and limitations of what it’s like to be like “one of us”. Batman has devoted his whole life to mastering the martial arts, fighting crime, and doing the right thing each time. It may not be clear if these criminals deserve to live, but Batman doesn't take matters into his own hands. He’ll leave that up to the courts to decide. He is the only hero that motivated others not by revenge but by true justice.

MY DREAM PLACE :)

The Hajj is the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to Allah

My dream place is always Mecca, I want to go there with my beloved mother. As Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, I'm thinking about to bring my mother there. God's will. :) she will be happy if I'm taking her there. Many people out there must be wondering why Muslim do this hajj.

Hajj or pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam. Hajj was made obligatory in the 9th year of Hijra. The Holy Prophet sent off 300 Muslims under the leadership of Hazrat Abubakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him) to Mecca so that they could perform Hajj. That was the year when it was banned for the Mushrikeen (those who associate partners with Allah) to enter Ka’ba. It was also made unlawful to perform Tawaaf by circling of Ka’ba with naked body, wearing ihram. The following year, 10th Hijra, the Holy Prophet Muhammad announced a head of time he himself would perform Hajj that year. He led tens of thousands of Muslims to Hajj that year and demonstrated to Muslims how to perform all the rites and rituals of the Hajj. This Hajj is known in history as Hajjatul Wida’ or Farewell Pilgrimage because this proved to be the last Hajj the Holy Prophet Muhammad performed. At the end of this farewell pilgrimage, the divine revelation that had started some 22 years ago came to an end with the following verse of Surah Al-Maidah:

“This day have I completed My commandments for you, and have brought to its fullness the favor that I have bestowed upon you, and have chosen Islam as your religion”

.Hajj is an act of worship just like Salat which are the five daily prayers and Sawm that fasting in the month of Ramadan. Muslims from all over the world gather in Mecca in the last month of Muslim calendar and worship Allah. Hajj is a special worship that lasts for several days. This is an occasion that brings Muslims of all countries, colors, and races to one place – the Ka’ba. This is a unique opportunity of worshipping Allah collectively in a large gathering at one place.

Like any other dream places that everyone has, the history of Mecca goes back to Prophet Ibrahim who built the Kaaba with the help of his elder son Ishmael in around 2000 BCE (before century) when the inhabitants of what was then known as Bakkah had fallen away from the original monotheism of Abraham. Another history that Mecca holds is that  the Ka'bah stands on the site of a primordial temple where Adam is said to have prayed after his expulsion from paradise. This all proven and stated in Quran as the book of divine guidance and direction for humanity.

To get the real image where is actually Mecca stated, the picture below will show us where is my dream place, Mecca situated.

A little information about Mecca is it at an elevation of 277 m (909 ft) above sea level, and approximately 80 km inland from the Red Sea. Central Mecca lies in a corridor between mountains, which is often called the "hollow of Mecca." The area contains the valley of Al Taneem, the Valley of Bakkah and the valley of Abqar. This mountainous location has defined the contemporary expansion of the city. The city centers on the Masjid al-Haram area, whose elevation is lower than most of the city. The area around the mosque comprises the old city. The main avenues are Al-Mudda'ah and Sūq al-Layl to the north of the mosque, and As-Sūg Assaghīr to the south. As the Saudis expanded the Grand Mosque in the center of the city, where there were once hundreds of houses are now replaced with wide avenues and city squares. Traditional homes are built of local rock and are generally two to three stories.

Another attraction about Mecca is that the many sources of water. The first were local wells, such as the Zamzam Well, that produced generally brackish water. The second source was the spring of Ayn Zubayda. The sources of this spring are the mountains of Jabal Saʿd and Jabal Kabkab, which lie a few kilometers east of Djabal ʿArafa (Djabal 'Arafa) or about 20 km east southeast of Mecca. Water was transported from it using underground channels.

Finally why I choose Mecca besides other country is that everything about the beauty of Hajj are stated in Quran,
thus no doubt that my dream place is there at Mecca. I want to share two verses that deal with Hajj (Pilgrimage) in the Quran;

And perform properly (i.e. all the ceremonies according to the ways of Prophet Muhammad SAW), the Hajj and Umrah (i.e. the pilgrimage to Makkah) for Allah. But if you are prevented (from completing them), sacrifice a Hady (animal, i.e. a sheep, a cow, or a camel, etc.) such as you can afford, and do not shave your heads until the Hady reaches the place of sacrifice. And whosoever of you is ill or has an ailment in his scalp (necessitating shaving), he must pay a Fidyah (ransom) of either observing Saum (fasts) (three days) or giving Sadaqah (charity - feeding six poor persons) or offering sacrifice (one sheep). Then if you are in safety and whosoever performs the Umrah in the months of Hajj, before (performing) the Hajj, (i.e. Hajj-at-Tamattu and Al-Qiran), he must slaughter a Hady such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, he should observe Saum (fasts) three days during the Hajj and seven days after his return (to his home), making ten days in all. This is for him whose family is not present at Al-Masjid-al-Haram (i.e. non-resident of Makkah). And fear Allah much and know that Allah is Severe in punishment. (Quran 2:196)

The Hajj (pilgrimage) is (in) the well-known (lunar year) months (i.e. the 10th month, the 11th month and the first ten days of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, i.e. two months and ten days). So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein by assuming Ihram), then he should not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj. And whatever good you do, (be sure) Allah knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is At-Taqwa (piety, righteousness, etc.). So fear Me, O men of understanding! (Quran 2:197)

InsyaAllah all my dream will come true about going to Mecca, my dream place. (:
Aminn.

A letter for my beloved mama

Dear Mama,
For more than 30 years you've been there for me in every way possible: emotionally, mentally and physically. All my life, you've been my hero and your relationship with Abah was equally inspiring. All my life, I watched how the two of you tackled problems. You always made it seem easy, it didn't mean you had to get loud or abusive or angry. You could disagree and still be calm and reasonable. You could be unhappy with a situation and still make the best of it. You could show love and respect in every action and every word.
When Abah got sick, you never once got angry. You never once seemed depressed. You took the news with such utter calmness that it helped the rest of us to stay calm. You found out what you needed to do and you did it. You were so quiet and so sad, but you still managed to smile for me. The way you coped with your grief was very much how you coped with life: quietly, deliberately and always with love.
You showed all of us how to handle it, how to miss abah, but still not give in to our grief. You've been my hero since I was a little boy and you helped me to stand, to walk and to run. You're still my hero Mama, you've shown me what it is to really love and I can't ever express to you what it means to me. Thank you Mama, thank you for always being there and for always taking care of us and for teaching us how to love.
I may sometimes have misunderstood you and your intentions when I was much younger. But now I know that everything you did was for my own good. Funny how saying that I’d understand that when I was older came true. I really want to thank Mama for what you've done and to let you know how much I appreciate you. Surely this letter is never seem to be enough. Because my love for you can't be shown by words. Nothing could describe your love to us, Mama. I love you with all my heart.

With love,

your son.
